Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev secured his initial championship for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult period, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally separating with former coach his previous coach.

Now training with his coach and his other coach, he has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks his maiden title since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court after March of 2023.

Success also indicates Medvedev has secured 21 victories at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my children simultaneously, so to get a title is especially meaningful," said ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my child her name, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in Halle previously this season.

His counter-punching play style and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted commentators to doubt if his capacity to compete at the highest level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to advance forward and play aggressively, supported by an better service.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the final five points to gain the advantage.

The pair traded break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to force a third set.

Moutet saved four early-game opportunities in a close third set before the champion won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner secured victory with a point at the net area, with his opponent unable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
